Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo is a Congolese politician and former warlord who currently serves as the Deputy Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He founded the Movement for the Liberation of the Congo (MLC) and served as a vice-president during the country's transitional government. Bemba's career has been marked by significant controversy, including a decade-long legal battle at the International Criminal Court, where he was initially convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity before being acquitted on appeal in 2018. Following his return to politics, he has held various ministerial positions, including Minister of National Defense and Minister of Transport.
