Jeanne Shaheen is an American politician currently serving as the senior United States Senator from New Hampshire, a position she has held since 2009. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as the 78th Governor of New Hampshire from 1997 to 2003, becoming the first woman in U.S. history to be elected both governor and a U.S. senator. Throughout her career, she has focused on education funding, healthcare reform, and bipartisan cooperation. In 2025, she announced that she would not seek reelection in 2026.
