He previously served as a member and chairman of the Yangju City Council, where he focused on welfare, education, and infrastructure improvements for the western region of the city. Before entering politics, he was active in local civic movements, including school meal initiatives. He was elected as the Mayor of Yangju in the 9th nationwide local elections held in 2026.
