Jeong Myeong-geun is a South Korean politician currently serving as the Mayor of Hwaseong. He began his career as a civil servant, working in various administrative roles within Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, and Hwaseong city governments for several years. After retiring from his civil service career, he entered politics as an aide to National Assembly member Kwon Chil-seung. He was first elected as the Mayor of Hwaseong in 2022 and subsequently re-elected in 2026, representing the Democratic Party of Korea.
