A member of the Republican Party, he has been re-elected multiple times, most recently in 2023. Before his legislative career, Zeringue served as the director of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA). He holds a bachelor's degree in zoology and a master's degree in fisheries biology from Louisiana State University.
