Jignesh Mevani

Jignesh Mevani is an Indian politician, lawyer, and activist serving as the representative for the Vadgam constituency in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly since 2017. Before entering electoral politics, he worked as a journalist and later became a prominent civil rights activist, leading campaigns for land rights and social justice for the Dalit community. He gained national prominence as the convener of the Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch following the 2016 Una flogging incident. Mevani is known for his advocacy regarding land reform, the rights of landless laborers, and his opposition to caste-based discrimination.
