Jim McCune is an American politician and businessman currently serving as a member of the Washington State Senate, representing the 2nd district since 2021. Born in Seattle and raised in Graham, Washington, McCune began his career in the salmon industry before entering public service. He previously served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 1998 to 1999 and again from 2005 to 2013, followed by a tenure on the Pierce County Council from 2013 to 2021. Throughout his legislative career, he has maintained a conservative platform, notably casting the sole dissenting vote in 2025 against a bill to officially recognize the Islamic holidays of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
