Jiro Akama is a Japanese politician and former professional boxer currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. A member of the Liberal Democratic Party, he has held several high-level government positions, including Minister of State for Disaster Management and Ocean Policy, and Chairman of the National Public Safety Commission. Before entering national politics, he served two terms in the Kanagawa Prefectural Assembly. Akama is known for his support of constitutional reform and the exercise of collective self-defense, and he has been involved in legislative efforts regarding selective separate surnames for married couples.
