Sumikazu Inoue is a Japanese politician who served as the Mayor of Kasuga in Fukuoka Prefecture for seven terms. Born in 1951, he began his political career as a secretary to a member of the House of Representatives before being elected to the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly in 1987, where he served three terms. He was first elected mayor in 1999 and became one of the longest-serving mayors in Japan. During his tenure, he was noted for implementing the 'Delivery Talk' initiative to engage with residents and promoting the 'Community School' model. In 2026, he stepped back from his duties due to health issues, leading to the appointment of a deputy mayor as his acting successor.
