Sumio Nagata is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kiyosu in Aichi Prefecture. Born in 1954, he began his career at the Kiyosu Town Office in 1978 and later served as the secretary-general for the merger council that established Kiyosu City. He was appointed as the Deputy Mayor of Kiyosu in 2009 before being elected as Mayor in 2017. Nagata has since been re-elected, most recently securing a third term in 2025. During his tenure, he has focused on municipal administration and implemented fiscal measures such as salary reductions for city officials during the COVID-19 pandemic.
