Jo Etienne Abela is a Maltese politician and medical doctor from the Labour Party who serves as a Member of the House of Representatives and Minister for Tourism. Born in Rabat, Gozo in 1975, he studied medicine and surgery at the University of Malta before training as a surgeon in Scotland and later working at Mater Dei Hospital and as a visiting lecturer. He entered parliament following the March 2022 general election, initially serving as Minister for Active Ageing before taking on his current ministerial portfolio.
