Joanne McCartney is a British politician and barrister who has served as a member of the London Assembly for Enfield & Haringey since 2004. Following the 2016 election of Sadiq Khan as Mayor of London, she was appointed as the Statutory Deputy Mayor of London. Prior to her political career, she worked as a barrister specializing in employment law and as an adjudicator for the Housing Ombudsman. In her role as Deputy Mayor, she has focused on initiatives such as universal free school meals, the Young Londoners fund, and the creation of Early Years Hubs. As an Assembly Member, she has consistently campaigned on issues including rail devolution, improvements to the Piccadilly Line, and the reduction of child poverty.
