João Paulo Lima e Silva is a Brazilian politician and economist who serves as a state deputy of Pernambuco. A former metalworker and trade union leader, he was elected as the first working-class mayor of Recife in 2000 and was re-elected in 2004. Throughout his career, he has served as a city councilor, federal deputy, and member of the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco, representing both the Workers' Party and later the Communist Party of Brazil.
