John Patrick Aubone Burnett, Baron Burnett, is a British politician and member of the House of Lords. Before his appointment as a life peer in 2006, he served as the Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Torridge and West Devon from 1997 to 2005. A former Royal Marines commando and solicitor, he has focused his parliamentary work on armed forces issues and legal reform, notably promoting the Limited Liability Partnerships Act 2000. He is known for his independent political stance, having occasionally distanced himself from his party's official positions.
