John Carley is an American politician currently serving as a member of the South Dakota Senate for the 29th district. He assumed office on January 14, 2025, after defeating Kirk Chaffee in the 2024 Republican primary election. In addition to his legislative duties, Carley serves as the Vice Chairman of the South Dakota Freedom Caucus. He has advocated for conservative policy initiatives, including legislation that would mandate the display of the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms.
