John Lowery is an American politician currently serving as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives for the 47th district, having assumed office in October 2025. A member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, he has also served as the tribe's chairman since January 2022. Lowery holds a bachelor's degree in political science and American Indian studies from the University of North Carolina Pembroke and a master's degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Prior to his legislative career, he worked as a public school teacher.
