John Main

Profile

John Main is a Canadian politician serving as the seventh Premier of Nunavut since 2025. He is the first non-Inuk to hold the office of Premier in the territory. First elected to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut in 2017 representing Arviat North-Whale Cove, he previously served as the Minister of Health and Minister responsible for Suicide Prevention. Before his political career, Main worked as a television reporter for CBC News and held roles in economic development and business administration. He is a graduate of Mount Allison University with a degree in economics.
