John Joseph McGuire III is an American politician and former United States Navy SEAL currently serving as the U.S. representative for Virginia's 5th congressional district since 2025. Before his election to Congress, he served in the Virginia Senate from 2024 to 2025 and the Virginia House of Delegates from 2018 to 2024. A member of the Republican Party, McGuire has focused his legislative career on veteran support, law enforcement, and conservative economic policies. He is known for his military background and his vocal support for Donald Trump, having successfully challenged incumbent Bob Good in the 2024 Republican primary.
