John Patten, Baron Patten, is a British politician and life peer who has served as a member of the House of Lords since 1997. Previously, he was a Conservative Member of Parliament for Oxford and later Oxford West and Abingdon from 1979 to 1997. During his ministerial career, he served as the Secretary of State for Education from 1992 to 1994. Before entering politics, he worked as a geography fellow at the University of Oxford. He is known for his conservative views and has been a senior advisor to Charterhouse Capital Partners since 2001.
