John Wakeham

John Wakeham is a British businessman and Conservative Party politician who currently serves as a life peer in the House of Lords. He previously represented Maldon as a Member of Parliament from 1974 to 1992, during which time he held several senior government roles, including Leader of the House of Commons and Energy Secretary. Throughout his career, he has chaired the Press Complaints Commission and led a Royal Commission on the reform of the House of Lords. A survivor of the 1984 Brighton hotel bombing, he has also served as the Chancellor of Brunel University.
