Sir John Whittingdale is a British Conservative politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Maldon since 1992. Throughout his long parliamentary career, he has held several high-profile positions, including Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport from 2015 to 2016 and various ministerial roles in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. A staunch supporter of Brexit, Whittingdale previously chaired the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee and served as a political secretary to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. He currently serves as the Shadow Minister for Health and Social Care.
