Johnny Ray Salling

Johnny Ray Salling is an American politician who has served as a member of the Maryland Senate representing the 6th district since 2015. Born in Baltimore, he served in the United States Army as a combat engineer before working for over 30 years as a steel worker at the Bethlehem Steel Mill in Sparrows Point. A social conservative and self-described lifelong Republican, Salling has focused his legislative career on issues including economic development, infrastructure, and public safety. He has been a member of the Budget and Taxation Committee and is known for his advocacy regarding local labor interests and his opposition to certain environmental and immigration policies.
