Katie Fry Hester

Katie Fry Hester is an American politician serving as a member of the Maryland Senate representing District 9 since 2019. Born in New York City and educated at Cornell University, she previously worked as a senior analyst and research manager. Hester entered politics following the 2016 presidential election, campaigning on a platform of healthcare access, education funding, and responsible economic development. A self-described centrist and moderate Democrat, she has focused on legislative efforts regarding artificial intelligence, environmental protection, and small business support. She currently serves as a deputy majority whip and chair of the Senate Rules Committee.
