Jorge Carvalho is a Portuguese politician and educator currently serving as the Mayor of Funchal, having been elected in 2025. He previously held a long-standing tenure as the Regional Secretary of Education, Science and Technology for the Government of Madeira between 2015 and 2025. A member of the Social Democratic Party, he also serves as the president of the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. His career includes experience as a physical education teacher, school administrator, and various roles in youth policy and local government.
