José Ramón Gómez Leal is a Mexican politician currently serving as a Senator of the Republic for the state of Tamaulipas. Born in Reynosa, he began his political career as a councilor in his home municipality before serving as a local deputy in the Congress of Tamaulipas from 2011 to 2013. He later transitioned to federal roles, serving as the Delegate for Development Programs in Tamaulipas from 2018 to 2021. In 2023, he was elected to the Senate in a special election and subsequently secured re-election in 2024, representing the National Regeneration Movement (Morena).
