Joseph Bassey

Joseph Bassey is a Nigerian politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South federal constituency of Cross River State. Elected to the 10th National Assembly in 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, he holds the position of Chairman of the House Committee on Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness. In this role, he has been a vocal advocate for increased federal funding and the modernization of equipment for the National Emergency Management Agency to enhance disaster response capabilities. Beyond his legislative duties, Bassey is actively involved in community development, having organized large-scale medical outreaches and invested in local educational infrastructure, including the donation of classroom facilities in Calabar South.
