Joseph Martin

Joseph Martin is an American politician serving as a member of the Maine Senate for District 19, having been elected in 2024. A resident of Rumford, he represents a rural district along the border with New Hampshire. Prior to his political career, Martin worked internationally in the mineral extraction industry, with experience in countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, and Madagascar. In 2025, he gained international attention for a unilateral proposal inviting several Western Canadian provinces to join the United States as states, a suggestion that was widely rejected by Canadian officials.
