Born and raised in Hebden Bridge, he previously served as a councillor for the Calder ward on the Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council, where he held the cabinet portfolio for Adult Health and Social Care from 2021 to 2024. Before his election to Parliament, Fenton-Glynn worked for several organizations, including Oxfam, the Child Poverty Action Group, and the General Medical Council. He unsuccessfully contested the Calder Valley seat in three consecutive general elections before his successful 2024 campaign.
