Josh Williams is an American politician serving as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 44th district. Elected in 2022, he made history as the first Black Republican elected to the Ohio House in 50 years and the first Black majority whip in the state's history. After overcoming homelessness and a severe back injury in his youth, Williams earned a law degree from the University of Toledo and worked as an attorney and professor. In the legislature, he is known for his conservative policy focus, including efforts to restrict drag performances, enhance human trafficking penalties, and implement stricter immigration enforcement cooperation.
