Jouke Douwe de Vries

Jouke Douwe de Vries is a Dutch politician, administrator, and singer-songwriter who has served as the Mayor of Achtkarspelen since January 30, 2025. Previously, he was a municipal councilor and alderman in Noardeast-Fryslân, where he focused on the social domain, welfare, education, and finance. A long-time advocate for social democratic values within Christian democracy, he co-founded the local party S!N (Sociaal in Noardeast-Fryslân) after leaving the CDA in 2013. Beyond his political career, De Vries has worked as an educator, educational consultant, and project manager, and he is an active musician who writes and produces his own compositions.
