Sir Julian Richard Smith is a British Conservative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Skipton and Ripon since 2010. During his career, he held significant government roles, including Government Chief Whip from 2017 to 2019 and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland from 2019 to 2020. He is widely recognized for his instrumental role in negotiating the 'New Decade, New Approach' agreement, which successfully restored power-sharing government in Northern Ireland. Smith was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath in 2024 for his political and public service.
