Julie Miville-Dechêne is a Canadian politician and former journalist currently serving as a member of the Senate of Canada. Before entering politics, she had a distinguished 25-year career as a broadcaster and public affairs correspondent for Radio-Canada, reporting from cities including Washington, D.C., and Ottawa. She notably served as the network's ombudsman from 2007 to 2011, becoming the first woman to hold the position. Later, she led the Conseil du statut de la femme and represented Quebec in Canada's delegation to UNESCO. Appointed to the Senate in 2018, she initially joined the Independent Senators Group before transitioning to the Progressive Senate Group in 2025.
