Percy Downe

Percy Downe is a Canadian politician who has served as a member of the Senate of Canada since his appointment in 2003. Born in 1954, he graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island before embarking on a career in government, eventually serving as chief of staff to Prime Minister Jean Chrétien from 2001 to 2003. Originally a member of the Liberal caucus, he has sat as an independent senator since 2014 and joined the Canadian Senators Group in 2019. Throughout his tenure, he has held various leadership roles in parliamentary committees, including the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
