Julie Palakovich Carr

Julie Palakovich Carr is an American politician serving as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing the 17th district since 2019. Before her election to the state legislature, she served on the Rockville City Council from 2013 to 2018, where she was the youngest woman ever elected to that body. A scientist by training with degrees in biology from Boston University and the University of Minnesota, she previously worked in science policy and co-founded a political technology startup. Her legislative priorities include electoral reform, tax policy, and social justice, notably sponsoring legislation to ban the gay panic defense and expand voting access.
