Junji Kato is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Toki City in Gifu Prefecture. Born in 1956, he graduated from Waseda University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences in 1979. He began his career as a civil servant at the Toki City Hall, where he held various leadership positions, including Director of the Economic and Environmental Department and Director of the General Affairs Department. He served as the Deputy Mayor of Toki City starting in 2017 before being elected as mayor in 2019. He was re-elected for a second term in 2023, having secured both mandates through uncontested elections.
