Juozas Olekas

Juozas Olekas is a Lithuanian politician and surgeon who serves as Speaker of the Seimas, a post he assumed on 10 September 2025. A member of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, he was elected to the Seimas in the October 2024 parliamentary election. He previously served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024, and earlier held the posts of Minister of National Defence and Minister of Health. He trained as a surgeon before entering politics.
