Juozas Olekas is a Lithuanian politician and surgeon who currently serves as a Member of the European Parliament. Throughout his extensive political career, he has held several high-level government positions, including serving as the Minister of National Defence from 2006 to 2008 and as the Minister of Health on two separate occasions, in 1990 and from 2003 to 2004. Before entering politics, he worked as a chief physician at the Vilnius University hospital.
