Akihiro Kagoshima is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors, representing the Kanagawa Prefecture constituency. Born in Sapporo and raised in Yokohama, he holds a background in biotechnology and fish physiology, having earned a degree from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and a graduate degree from the University of Tokyo. Prior to his election in July 2025, he served as a bureaucrat at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and worked internationally with the OECD in France and the World Wide Fund for Nature. He is a father of two and a former competitive gymnast.
