Kai Buchmann

Kai Buchmann is a German independent politician serving as the Lord Mayor of Nordhausen since 2017. Before entering politics, he worked as a bank clerk and project manager. He was formerly a member of the Alliance 90/The Greens party but later became an independent, eventually founding the local voter association Bürgerliste Südharz. Despite facing a temporary suspension from office in 2023 due to disciplinary proceedings, he was re-elected to his position in September 2023 and continues to serve as the city's leader.
