Profile

Kamon Iizumi is a Japanese politician and former bureaucrat currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives. A graduate of the University of Tokyo, he began his career in the Ministry of Home Affairs before serving as the Governor of Tokushima Prefecture for five consecutive terms from 2003 to 2023. During his tenure as governor, he also served as the 13th Chairman of the National Governors' Association. After losing his bid for a sixth term as governor in 2023, he transitioned to national politics, eventually winning a seat in the House of Representatives in the 51st general election held in February 2026 as a candidate for the Democratic Party for the People.
