上田清司

Kiyoshi Ueda is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Councillors. He previously served four terms as the Governor of Saitama Prefecture from 2003 to 2019, during which he focused on administrative reform and fiscal discipline. Before his tenure as governor, he served three terms in the House of Representatives. A graduate of Hosei University and Waseda University, Ueda began his career as an educator and has been a prominent figure in regional and national politics. He is known for his conservative stance on historical issues, support for administrative efficiency, and opposition to gender-free policies. He returned to national politics in 2019 following his service as governor and joined the Democratic Party for the People in 2025.
