Karen Camper

Karen Camper is an American politician serving as a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives for District 87, a position she has held since 2008. A member of the Democratic Party, she made history in 2018 by becoming the first African-American leader of the Tennessee House Democratic Caucus. Throughout her tenure, she has focused on legislative advocacy and constituent services within the Memphis area. In 2023, she expanded her political reach by running as a candidate in the Memphis mayoral election. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and the University at Albany, SUNY.
