A cancer survivor and graduate of Utah State University and Southern Utah University, she previously served on the Clinton City Council and as a legislative liaison for Governor Spencer Cox. Peterson has held various committee assignments, including the House Education Committee and the House Rules Committee, where she serves as Vice Chair. She has announced that she will not seek re-election for the 2026 term.
