Karol Janas is a Slovak politician, historian, and academic who currently serves as the Mayor of Považská Bystrica, a member of the Trenčín Regional Council, and a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. An expert in public administration and political history, he previously held academic positions at the Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín and the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Formerly associated with the SMER–SD party, he joined HLAS–SD in 2020 and has been re-elected as mayor multiple times since 2010.
