Kashim Shettima is a Nigerian politician serving as the 15th and current Vice President of Nigeria since May 2023. He previously served as a senator for Borno Central from 2019 to 2023 and as the Governor of Borno State from 2011 to 2019, where his administration navigated the severe challenges of the Boko Haram insurgency. An agricultural economist and former banker by training, Shettima transitioned into public service as a state commissioner before winning the governorship and later ascending to the national executive office alongside President Bola Tinubu.
