Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is a Kazakh politician and diplomat who has served as the second President of Kazakhstan since 2019. A career diplomat, he previously held high-level government positions including Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chairman of the Senate. Tokayev also served as the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva. Since assuming the presidency, he has focused on economic modernization, political restructuring, and maintaining a multi-vector foreign policy. Following the 2022 unrest, he distanced his administration from his predecessor, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and implemented constitutional reforms to reduce presidential powers.
