Kate Doust is an Australian politician who has served as a member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia since 2001, representing the South Metropolitan Region. A member of the Labor Party, she made history in 2017 by becoming the first woman to serve as President of the Legislative Council, a position she held until 2021. Before entering parliament, she worked as an official for the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association. Known for her socially conservative views, she is notably pro-life and was the only Labor member to vote against the 2023 abortion law reforms in Western Australia.
