Since 2022, she has held several senior cabinet positions in the Albanese Government, including Minister for Finance, Minister for Women, and Minister for the Public Service, with the additional portfolio of Minister for Government Services added in 2025. Previously, she served as the 6th Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory from 2011 to 2014. Before entering politics, she worked as a social worker and union organiser.
