Kazumitsu Watanabe is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the Niigata Prefectural Assembly, representing the Higashi Ward of Niigata City. After graduating from Niigata Prefectural Maki Technical High School, he worked for Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. for many years, where he became involved in labor union activities. He began his political career in 2003, serving four terms as a member of the Niigata City Council, including a tenure as Vice-Chairman. Elected to the Niigata Prefectural Assembly in 2019, he focuses on regional economic development, employment security, and addressing population decline. He is a member of the local political group Shinsei Niigata.
