Kazuo Maeda is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the Hokkaido Prefectural Assembly. Born in Matsumae, Hokkaido, he previously served two terms as the Mayor of Matsumae and two terms as a member of the House of Representatives of Japan. A graduate of Hokkaido University, Maeda began his career at Itochu Corporation and later worked for the Hokkaido Prefectural Government. Throughout his political career, he has been affiliated with the Liberal Democratic Party and has expressed support for constitutional reform, including the formal recognition of the Self-Defense Forces, while maintaining a conservative stance on various social and security policy issues.
