Prior to his election to the Senate, he served in the Florida House of Representatives representing the 31st and 26th districts from 2020 to 2024. A veteran of the United States Air Force and the founder of Lake Jem Farms, Truenow has focused on agricultural and legislative policy. In 2025, he gained national attention for sponsoring legislation aimed at banning the addition of fluoride to public drinking water in Florida.
